Participatory Budgeting Fun Day in Milton

On Saturday 11th May a group of GDA members, supported by GDA, organised the Big Milton Fun day! The event was organised as part of the participatory budgeting activities in Canal ward in north Glasgow.

This PB process is part of Glasgow City Council's wider PB programme, which sees 4 areas in Glasgow using PB around specific themes.

GDA said:

“This fully accessible fun day had craft activities and sports tasters, information stalls with a wide range of partners, selection of cars and even a fire engine - finishing with a raffle where all proceeds went to St. Augustine Foodbank. In the end, the event raised just over £340!

“Local GDA members had applied and were successful in raising £750 from the participatory budgeting activites in the local area to put on the event from
Glasgow Community Planning Partnership - Thriving Places and received another one off donation from the Allander group of £500 - so thank you to them for helping to make the event happen!

“Our learning from the event shows that working together achieves access, inclusion and community belonging for disabled people and that with support, disabled people can make much needed contributions to local communities.”
